So, following are the home remedies that would help you to get rid of dandruff:
1. LEMON
Ingredients:
Lemon: 1
Coconut oil: 6 Tsp
STEPS
Cut a lemon into 2 halves and squeeze the juice out of it.
Now add 6 teaspoons of coconut oil to it.
Mix the two ingredients properly.Before going to your bed at night, massage this mixture on your scalp in a circular motion using your fingers.
Keep massaging your scalp for 15 minutes and then, apply this mixture to your hair as well.Then, the next morning wash your hair with a mild shampoo and normal water.Do this remedy 2 times a week for 2 months to get the best results.
Lemon juice is acidic in nature due to which it helps in maintaining the pH level of the scalp and treats dandruff because one of the factors responsible for dandruff is the imbalance of pH levels of the scalp. Coconut oil has antibacterial properties that help in removing dandruff from your scalp.
2. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Ingredients:
Apple cider vinegar: 2 cups Banana: 1
STEPS
Peel a banana and mash it in a bowl.
To the mashed banana add 2 cups of apple cider vinegar.
Stir the mixture properly. Using your fingers, apply this mixture to your scalp and hair.
Make sure you massage your scalp with this mixture properly.
Let it stay the same way for 30 minutes.
Then wash your hair with a mild shampoo and normal water.Do this remedy once a week, for 5- 6 weeks to get rid of dandruff.
Apple cider vinegar kills dandruff-causing germs and bacteria. Banana contains vitamin B which helps in improving blood circulation and therefore treats dandruff.
3. FULLER’S EARTH
Ingredients:
Fuller’s earth: 1- 2 cups
Lemon juice: 2 tbsp
Water: 3 cups (according to the requirement)
STEPS
Add 1- 2 cups of fuller’s earth to 3 cups of water and stir it properly.
Then, add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to it and again mix all the ingredients.Apply this mixture to your scalp.
Apply it to your hair as well from root to tip.Let it sit for 30 minutes.Then, rinse off the mixture with normal water. Do not shampoo your hair afterward.
Do this remedy 2 times a week, for 2 months.
Fuller’s earth cleanses the hair and scalp properly as it absorbs the dirt and oil. Lemon has acidic properties, therefore, it helps in maintaining the pH levels of the scalp. Water helps in the smooth application of this mixture.
4. GARLIC
Ingredients:
Garlic: 4 cloves
Honey: 1 tbsp
STEPS
Crush 4 garlic cloves in a bowl. Then, add 1 tablespoon of honey to it.
Stir the mixture properly.Massage your scalp with this mixture in a circular motion.
Keep it the same way for 20 minutes.Afterwards, rinse it off and wash your hair with a mild shampoo and normal water.
Do this remedy once a week for 2 months, to get rid of dandruff.
Garlic is known for its antifungal properties which help in killing all dandruff-causing fungus. Honey helps in the conditioning of your hair.
5. ORANGE PEEL
Ingredients:
Oranges: 2
Lemon juice: 1- 2 Tsp
Aloe vera leaves: 2Water: 5 Tsp
STEPS
Peel 2 oranges. Cut the orange peels into very small pieces and let them dry in sun for a day.
The next day, grind these dried peels in a mixer. Collect the orange peel powder in a bowl and add 1- 2 teaspoons of lemon juice to it and stir it.
Then, slit an aloe vera leaf into two halves and extract the aloe vera gel out of it.Add the extracted aloe vera gel to the mixture of orange peel powder and lemon juice.
Then, add 5 teaspoons of water to it.Mix all the ingredients together.Apply this mixture to your scalp.Keep it the same way for 30 minutes.
Afterwards, rinse your hair with normal water and a mild shampoo.Do this remedy once a week for a month.
Orange peels and lemon juice, both are acidic in nature, therefore, help in maintaining the pH levels of the scalp. They absorb the excess oil present on the scalp. Aloe vera gel reduces dandruff and conditions the scalp. Water is required for the easy application of the mixture.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES
Following are the measure that one must take in order to prevent dandruff:
Do not share your combs with anyone else.
Never tie your hair when it is wet.
Do not leave your hair dirty or unwashed for too long.
Wash your hair for at least 2 times a week.
Make sure you don’t leave any hair product like shampoo or conditioner in your hair.
Always wash your hair properly.
Wash your hair with normal or cold water but not warm water.
Warm water makes the scalp dry and therefore leads to dandruff.
